I'm sure when the name "Adjuster" was attached to someone who adjusts insurance claims, between the insurance company and the insured or claimant, "War Stories" took on a whole new meaning.
Today when adjusters get together for just about anything from Golf to Dining, one of the adjusters will say "let me tell you about a claim I just handled." That would be followed by another adjuster telling a story as well. Thus the "War Stories" of adjusters!
Not sure if the story would get better the more times it was told, or how many other adjusters would share the same story as if it were their own. In any event, the tales told make not only good fodder for the event, and created a special bond between those partaking in the stories.
What I would like to do, with this Blog, is to put together some of those "War Stories" for the enjoyment of not only other adjusters, but for the general public, should they even care what we all do!
The first story that comes to mind for me, is the Customer Service Representative who would process new claims as they came in. Instructions were given to the CSR to put the cause of the accident in first party dialog. For example if the claim was to report an accident the insured was involved in, the loss description would read, "While I was driving through the intersection of North and South Street, my vehicle was struck by another vehicle that had run a red light."
Okay, so you see how that works! Now here was the one that caught everyone's attention:
"I was riding in a boat, when I fell out of the boat and I was hit by another boat and I died."
I do think there are some occasions when the CSR did not have to put the loss description in first party dialog, and this would have been one of those.
